Whistleblower Security is committed to protecting your privacy. We are committed to maintaining
the accuracy, confidentiality and security of all information we receive and disseminate. Our
guiding principles have been built upon the standards outlined in Canadian Standards Association's
Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information and Canada's Personal Information Protection
and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Principle 1- Accountability
Whistleblower Security is responsible for all information received and is fully accountable for
the protection of this information. Whistleblower Security has a designated individual who is
responsible for ensuring compliance with our Privacy Policy.
Principle 2- Identifying Purpose
When collecting information from our clients and their employees the purpose must be identified
before and at the time the information is collected.
Principle 3- Consent
The consent of our clients and their employees is required when collecting, using and/or disclosing
information except only to do so if required by law or within the course of legal undertaking.
Principle 4- Limiting Collection
The information collected from clients and their employees will be limited to the purposes identified
by Whistleblower Security as part of conducting business. All information collected will be done so
in a fair and lawful manner.
Principle 5- Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention
All information received and disseminated by Whistleblower Security will be for the purpose it was
collected except when only to do so by law, within the course of legal undertaking or with your
expressed consent. All information will be retained for the period of time required for the purpose
it was collected.
Under no circumstances will information be sold, shared or distributed to a third-party; except only
to do so if required by law or within the course of legal undertaking.
Principle 6- Accuracy
Information from clients and their employees will be as complete, current and accurate as provided
to Whistleblower Security for the intended purpose for which it was collected. Whistleblower
Security does not guarantee the validity and reliability of the information received by employees
who communicate the information but ensure the full and accurate disclosure of the information
received.
Principle 7- Safeguarding Information
Whistleblower Security safeguards the information received by clients and their employees by means
that are appropriate for the sensitivity of the information collected. Only designated individuals
will be granted access to information. Whistleblower Security measures are in place internally and
externally. Passwords and other security measures are utilized on our online Whistleblower Incident
Reporter to protect information from unauthorized access. All employees will access and utilize
information received for the purposes for which they are intended for and are required to sign a
Confidentially Agreement as part of their employment with Whistleblower Security.
Principle 8- Openness
Whistleblower Security will make public to individuals internal and external to the company the
policies and practices regarding the management and usage of their information. A printed version
of our Privacy Policy can be requested by contacting our Privacy Officer.
Principle 9- Accessibility
Clients and their employees can request and shall have full access to the presence, usage and
disclosure of their information. Clients and employees can verify the accuracy of the information
and if need be request amendments.
Principle 10- Queries, Complaints and Suggestions
Any questions by clients and their employees about our Privacy Policy, guiding principles or
practices can be done so by contacting the Privacy Officer at
privacy@whistleblowersecurity.com.
